Had a great retreat this weekend. A bunch of us young Methodist got together at St. Dorthy's, which was absolutely beautiful to talk about community.

I was much relieved to find that my most recent X was not there, and good friends were. The sight was glorious, the talk was productive and fun, the food and fellowship were great, and there was a fun opportunity for tinkering, although I confess I left most of the serious tinkering up to Brian who is in this way much my superior.

I've already talked to my pastor and she is actually excited bout helping me get things started, so ha to all those people saying pastors were stretched too thin already.

Of course as I'll be moving churchs soon I'll only just get things started and have to start over elsewhere, but I hope whatever starts here will continue after I'm gone.

In completely other news I am deeply concerned about my Thanksgiving. For a variety of practical reasons my mother and father, who have been divorced SINCE I WAS 7, and have never in that time or before, at least not in my memory, gotten along are doing Thanksgiving together.

This would be disturbing enough if we were going out, or if Dad were showing up at Mom's place just before we eat, but that'd just be too easy. Part of the reason we're doing this is that Mom moved into a smaller space. This means that Mom is going over to Dad's in the morning, and will be cooking there all day. Simon and Sonya and I will be there of course, and I'm not sure if that'll help or not.

So please send prayers, happy thoughts, spiritual energy, the force, your mental encouragement of chose in the general direction of Milpitas this Thursday. I'm sure the other Milpitians won't mind too much.
